Rene Barriere

June 3, 1945 — July 11, 2024

Rene Barriere, beloved husband, son and Pepere, 79, of Coopersville, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Mooers, NY, to Arthur and Rita Barriere, he resided in Coopersville and spent his winters in Florida. Rene learned the importance of hard work from a young age, growing up on a farm. At 18, he joined the military and served for nine years, taking great pride in his veteran status. He then embarked on a long and successful career at F.W. Myers Customs Brokers. Rene was an active board member at the Clinton County Fair, eagerly anticipating the event each summer, where he worked diligently and enjoyed the social aspects of camping at the fairgrounds. His dedication and effort enabled him to retire early, giving him the freedom to travel, play golf, and enjoy an active social life, often spending “happy hours” with friends playing cards. Above all, his early retirement allowed him to spend cherished time with his family, whether it was lending a hand with house projects, attending his grandkids’ sporting events or family parties. He considered his family to be his greatest achievement and the greatest joy of his life. Rene will be lovingly and forever remembered by his wife Lorraine, sons Daniel (Krystol), Noel (Lorena), Patrick (Meagen), grandchildren Melanie (Tyler), Jordan (Kate), Skyler (Jamie), Josh (Megan), Sydney, Emma, Isabella and Sophia. He was blessed with 6 great grandchildren Shea, Emmett, Beau, Edie, Mabel and Easton. Rene will be greatly missed by his siblings, extended family and numerous friends in the north country and Florida. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 22 at St. Mary’s Church, 86 Church St., Champlain at 11:00 AM with a celebration of life to immediately follow in Rouses Point. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Church 86 Church St, Champlain, NY 12919 or Saint Anne’s Shrine, 92 St Anne’s Rd., PO Box 280, Isle La Motte, VT 05463. The family will forever be grateful to Lorraine and Patrick, for providing the best care for Rene in his final days at home.
