Mr. Richard D. "The Coon" Bruce, 76 of French Road, Saranac, NY passed away on Monday March 9, 2009 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY. He was born on November 9, 1932 the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Raymond) Bruce. Dick worked for Republican Steel Co. at the Lyon Mountain Mine for five years before joining the International Iron Workers, Montreal Local #711, where he later retired. Dick loved to fish, hunt, trap and harvest leeks. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Dick was predeceased by his parents Robert and Elizabeth (Raymond) Bruce. He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years Rose (Patnode), a son, Shane Bruce and his wife Lori of Saranac, NY, three daughters, Angela Bruce of Diamond Point, NY, Ric Bruce of Crescent City, FL and Alesia (Bruce) Giuliano and her husband Salvadore of North Port, FL, four grandchildren, Becky, Chad, Cherise and Mike. Two brothers, Glen Bruce and his wife Cathie of Kissimmee, FL, and Robert Bruce and his wife Donna of Cleveland, OH and a sister Veronica Rock of Kissimmee, FL. Several nieces and a special friend Aaron Siskavich also survive him. At Dick's request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Redford, NY In Lieu of Flowers Masses in Richard's memory may be said at the Church of the Assumption in Redford, NY.
