Richard A Forget

Richard A. Forget, 82 years old, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on March 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. Richard was born on January 2, 1941. He was 5th of the 7 children of Nelson Sr and Beatrice (Meloche) Forget.
Richard graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February of 1960 and served for six years including a tour in Okinawa. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20 since 2003. “Dick” was a salesman for Sealtest for 10 years before he became an office manager for 20 more years at Rosebud Creamery. In 1968 he married Judith (Grube). She was the love of his life for 54 years until she passed away after a long illness last year.
Richard was a dedicated family man and loved his friends dearly. Earlier in life he enjoyed bowling and camping and later appreciated the game of golf especially during his four months in Vero Beach, Fl every year. He enjoyed cruising the Caribbean waters, coffee time with his friends at the mall, and watching a variety of sports. He was a fan of the NY Giants, the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox and Syracuse University basketball. He spent many years attending spring training for the NY Mets while in Florida.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, loving father to Kris LaDuke (Greg) and Shelly Downing-Forget (Lisa), cherished “Poppy” to granddaughters Ashley Boisvert (Michael) and Kelly Menard (Erich) and great grandfather to Carter Boisvert, and his sisters Marie Dupra, Neomi Reil, brothers Peter and Brion Forget.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and his brothers Ronald and Nelson Jr.
He will be remembered fondly for his warm smile and sense of humor.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 11:00-1:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
