Richard A "Dick" Labarr

Champlain Richard A. "Dick" LaBarr, 68, of Champlain, NY, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Hope Hospice Wing of Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 17, 1947 the son of Charles and Leona (Latourelle) LaBarr. Dick joined the United States Navy in 1965 after he graduated from high school. Dick had several jobs following his service until he worked with his brother at North Country Garage Doors. He was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Post #1418 in Champlain. He became a member of the Keeseville Fire Department and later the Peru Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors golfing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Dick was known for being family oriented and taking care of his parents until they're deaths. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Barbara Lawson, his brother Thomas LaBarr, and his previous wife, Colleen Potter. Richard is survived by his siblings; Robert LaBarr and his wife Jeannette of Fort Myers, FL, Bonnie Cromwell of Troy, OH, Terry LaBarr of Lexington, NC, Joseph LaBarr and his wife Colette of West Chazy, NY, Timothy LaBarr and his wife Barbara of Rome, NY, Maryanne Downs and her husband Bryan of Newman Lake, WA and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be the next day on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Coopersville, NY.
