Richard A. “Red” LaVigne, 61, formerly of West Chazy and more recently of Plattsburgh passed away at his home Sunday March 8, 2020. He was born in Plattsburgh on November 10, 1958 the son of Lyman A. and Leona E. (Stone) LaVigne.
Red was a graduate of Beekmantown Central High School, Class of 1976. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1976 to 1983 and the Army reserves. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2015 and he served as union president. Red served as a school board member of Beekmantown Central School. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Red enjoyed coin collecting, reading, going to auctions and he was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Carol LaMar, Rodney, Russell and Michael LaVigne.
Red is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Sue (Rivers) LaVigne of Plattsburgh, his siblings; Donna (John) LaMar, Gary LaVigne, Albert (Debbie) LaVigne, Neal (Shelly) LaVigne, his mother-in-law Marion Rivers, brother-in-law Scott (Wendy) Rivers, his sisters-in-law Becky LaVigne, Pat LaVigne, Cathy (Bill) Liebold, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
