Richard H. Naro, 84, of Altona, NY passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on September 24, 1937, the son of the late Richard H. and Dorothy (Averill) Naro, Sr..
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1960 and later was employed by the Clinton County Highway Department for 30 years. He later was a tractor trailer driver for Bouyea Bakery for several years. He was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church and was a life member of V.F. W. Post 1418 in Champlain. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa (Lucia) Naro, his children and their spouses; Kathy Barboza of Watertown, James Naro of Mooers, Brenda and Joe McChesney of Rouses Point, his half sister; Sally Naro of Beekmantown, eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Donald Narrow, a sister Frances Ford, and a granddaughter Miranda Brassard.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, the Most Rev. Douglas Lucia, Bishop of Syracuse officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
