Rita May Brunell

Rita May Brunell, 85, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Hemmingford, PQ, Canada on December 26, 1935, daughter of Gedeon “Jed” and Irene (Robert) White.
Rita retired from Ayerst-Wyeth after more than 38 years of work. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was celebrating Christmas, making it special for her family. She was known as an incredible cook and making meals for all her family and friends that they enjoyed immensely. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, her roses, trees and poetry. She was a member for the First Presbyterian Church.
Rita is survived by her sons, Hermon D. Brunell and his wife Dorothy, Dennis Brunell and his wife Julie, her grandchildren, Katelyn Ryan and her husband Matthew, Drew Brunell and his wife Ashley, and Kayse Brunell, great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Josephine Ryan, Luke and Lane Brunell, her dear friend and support Don Bedore, siblings; Gladys Monette (Norman), Christina White (Irvin Baskin), Linda White, Ruby White (John Auza) and Eleanor White, and many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, her husband Herman L. Brunell, her siblings Mildred White, Walter White, and Bernice White and her husband Thurston.
There will be no public calling hours. Graveside services will be at a later date at the Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Dr. Webber and his staff, the UVM-CVPH Emergency Department, R6, R4, Cardiology Providers, Nurses, and Staff as you all were her final support as we could not be with her due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Donations in Rita’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners, or Wounded Warrior Project.
