Rita M Russo

Rita M. Russo, 94, of Peru St., Plattsburgh passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with her loving family by her side. She was born in St. Albans, Vermont on July 30, 1927 the daughter of William Francis and Marie Mederese (LaDoucera) Morin.
Rita married Rocco F. Russo in 1948. She was employed by Sears Mail Order Store for many years until her retirement. In retirement, Rita devoted her time to the Adirondack Humane Society, volunteering at the thrift store, and was active in the feeding of and caring for feral cats until forever homes could be found for them.
Rita was predeceased by her parents William and Marie Morin, her husband Rocco Russo, her sisters; Cecile, Florence, Bertha, Georgette, Christina, Noella and Sr. Mary (Stella).
She is survived by her children; Rocco (Kim) Russo, Larry Russo, Jerry (Nancy) Russo, Chris (Mike) Fraysier, Gary (Teri Walters) Russo, Steve (Marianne Boudreau) Russo, Stella (Bob) Mathis, four grandchildren; Derek (Anastasia Olsen) Russo, Carly Fraysier, Dan Fraysier, Anthony Russo, a close nephew Eugene Orsino and several other nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed by all.
At Rita’s request there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church.
Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Animal Rescue and Welfare Service, P. O. Box 2341, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 or masses may be said in her memory.
