Plattsburgh Rita D. Vann, 91, of Bradford Road, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday July 23, 2011 at her home. She was born in Morrisonville, NY on June 24, 1920 the daughter of Amos and Dora (Rivers) Sorrell. Rita worked at Beekmantown Central School in the Cafeteria for many years. She was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Rita enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Vann, her parents, three brothers, Levi, Leo and Adrian Sorrell. Rita is survived by two children; Shirley Tennant of Cumberland Head and Marvin Vann and his wife Mary of Plattsburgh, three grandchildren; Timothy Vann and his wife Keiko of Penfield, NY, Thomas Vann of Plattsburgh and Tyler Vann and his wife Darla of Milford, NH, two great grandchildren; Jason and Hana Vann, a sister in law Edith Sorrell of Basken Ridge, NJ, a brother in law James Vann and his wife Elaine of Morrisonville, her favorite cousin Marie Fisher, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. At Rita's request their will be no public calling hours, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville. Donations in Rita's memory maybe made to the Morrisonville EMS or Meals on Wheels, C/O Brown Funeral Home.
