Robert G Allard

November 11, 1945 — May 10, 2021

Robert “Bob” Allard, 75, of Plattsburgh, passed away on May 9, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 11, 1945 to Norman and Beatrice (Millet) Allard of Plattsburgh. Predeceased by his parents, his brother Raymond Allard and his in-laws, Alfred and Eleanor (Kline) Giroux. Married to his love, Taunia L. (Giroux) Allard on Aug. 28, 1965, together they raised 3 daughters Heather Allard, Tracie (Allard) McGill and Bobbie-Jo (Allard) Ilardo.
Bob is survived and unbearably missed by his wife Taunia, of 56 years, their 3 daughters and their respective spouses Kieron Means, Sal Ilardo and Mark McGill (who was like a son to him since he started dating his daughter Tracie in 1985); 4 granddaughters Victoria (Lehman) Odorizzi and her husband John Odorizzi, Mia, Elena and Liliana Ilardo; and 2 great-grandsons Anthony and Alex Odorizzi. He is also survived by 2 brothers and their families William Allard, his daughter Jennifer Allard, his son Scott Allard and James and Donna Allard, their daughter Christine Allard and their son Michael Allard; several nieces in Texas; his closest friends Bruce and Donna LaValley and their family; Warren Martin; Don and Betty Shambo; and Courtney Nelson (who Bob considered a daughter).
First and foremost, Bob was a devoted family man. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was the person everyone consulted with when there was a problem, or something needed to be fixed. He built two family homes and renovated camps on Lake Champlain in Willsboro. Bob loved spending time with his family and when he wasn’t sitting in the sun, he could be found in his workshop restoring his classic car or woodworking. Bob, a man of countless talents, was a U.S. Army veteran, an entrepreneur and craftsman. He retired in 2008 after owning and operating Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Shop in Champlain Centre from 1997 during which time he made lasting friendships with many of the mall walkers.
Bob was a cancer survivor, and his family is incredibly grateful to Dr. Michael Perrotti from St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, who saved his life in 2008 and gave us 13 more precious years with him. The family also thanks the staff at HK Freedman Renal Center and their neighbors for all of their support.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services instead the family will hold a private celebration of his life sometime during his favorite season - summer.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his memory to the Elmore SPCA or the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehab Center.
