Morrisonville Robert "Bobby" M. Blair, 66, of Mason Street, Morrisonville, NY, passed away on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on January 15, 1948 the son of Arthur and Myrle (Hoyt) Blair. Bobby graduated from Saranac High School in 1967, where he received the award for Senior Athlete of his class. He immediately joined the United States Army, where he was stationed as a Military Police Officer in Germany, returning home in 1970. Bobby began working for the New York State Dept. of Corrections as a Corrections Officer in 1974. He spent the majority of his career at Clinton Correctional Facility, retiring in 2001. Bobby did not stay retired long; he began babysitting his five grandchildren. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 1618 in Redford and the Clinton County Firemen Bowling League. Bobby enjoyed hunting, playing horse shoes, gambling and following March Madness, his "Pool" was legendary! His greatest joy was spending time with his family and taking trips to their camp in Loon Lake. Bobby's grandchildren were always excited for deer rides in "Poppa's" truck, four wheeling and fishing adventures. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, three brothers; Leon, Merle and Gerald Blair, a sister, Shirley Marshall and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roma and Ann Barnard. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Patricia "Patty" (Barnard) Blair, they were married at St. Alexander's Church on April 22, 1972, three children; Julie Deyo and her husband Joey of Beekmantown, Randy Blair and his wife Emily of Altona and Ann Blair and her fiancé Ray Scott of Morrisonville, five grandchildren; Jacob Deyo, Zashon Abrams, Jordan Deyo, Morgan Blair and Reanna Blair, his siblings; Elsie (Leslie) Lester, Fred (Monica) Blair, Chester (Alberta) Blair, Larry (Shari) Blair, Richard (Leata) Blair, Byrle (Donald) Gonyea, his sisters-in-law; Kathy Provost, Sally Blair, Cheryl Blair, Jean Blair, Joanne (Jim) Ryan, Peggy (John) Thew, Mary Barnard, brothers-in-law Jerry Marshall, Roger (Connie) Barnard and Tom (Collette) Barnard, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Friday February 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, burial will be in St. Alexander's Cemetery later in the year. Donations in Bobby's memory may be made to Autism Alliance of the Northeastern New York or Hospice of the North Country.
