Plattsburgh Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Egan, Sr., 89, of Lincoln Lane in Plattsburgh, NY, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh, NY. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY, on December 29, 1920, the son of Charles and Mabel (Blair) Egan. Bob graduated from St. John's Academy Class of 1939. He later enlisted in the Navy serving in WWII and received a Purple Heart. Bob was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #125, the American Legion Post #20, a Life Member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge #621, the Knights of Columbus Council #255, a very active member of Telephone Pioneers of America, member and a Trustee of St. John's Church, and a faithful bingo worker for thirty plus years. He was also one of the founders of St. John's Athletic Association. He enjoyed reading, dancing and most of all taking his grandchildren to the candy store after Mass. Bob will be remembered as the dishwasher for the Wednesday night family dinners for almost 20 years. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother Thomas Egan who was killed in action during WWII, two brothers who died during the flu epidemic of 1918 and two sisters, Mildred Egan and Lillian Cogan. Robert is survived by his wife Pauline (DeCelle) Egan of Plattsburgh. They were married June 5, 1948 at St. John's Church. Bob is also survived by two sons; Thomas Egan of Liverpool, NY, Robert Egan and his wife Darlene of Plattsburgh, NY, three daughters; Carol Rennell and her husband Tom of Plattsburgh, NY, Diane Gardner and her husband Donald of Calcium, NY, Nancy Flick and her husband Gary of Westfield, MA; thirteen grandchildren, Sarah Colabufo and her husband Michael, Amy Favreau and her husband Scott, Matt Rennell and his wife Erika, Kate Gardner, Chris Gardner, Brian, Kristen and Kevin Egan, Renee, Stephanie and Shannon Egan, Samantha and Ryan Flick, six great grandchildren, Jenna and Alexa Colabufo, Carter, Brenden and Kayleen Favreau and Emily Grace Rennell. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Memorial donations may be offered to Seton Catholic or Seton Academy Schools. Bob will be remembered as an ordinary man, who lived an ordinary life and was regarded by those who knew him as an extraordinary person.
