Robert L. Camp, 76, of Keeseville, NY died on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington after a long illness and recent medical complications.
Robert was born in Plattsburgh, NY on May 10, 1945, to Dorothy Garrow Camp and George L. Camp of Plattsburgh.
He attended Plattsburgh High School and Plattsburgh State College. On February 15, 1969, he married his beloved wife Maureen Bailey Camp in Dannemora, NY.
Robert was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, his son, Michael Camp of Burlington, VT, his daughter, Kristan Camp Fitah and grandson, Ayman Fitah, of Malden, MA, as well as his sister, Beverly Tyndall of Morrisonville, Leroy Tyndall of Plattsburgh, and William Camp and his wife, Terry, of Albuquerque, NM. Robert was also a favorite uncle, cousin, and surrogate brother to many others.
Robert worked as a Corrections Officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY, and as a Camera Technician and Maintenance Director at the Burlington Free Press in Vermont. Robert also worked at Maple Leaf Treatment Center in Underhill, VT counseling and assisting people in need.
Robert will be remember for his tremendous sense of humor, warmth, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He was an avid reader, local historian, and a great lover of nature.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh, Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
