Robert King Carpenter was born on September 13, 1933, to Marguerite King Carpenter and Lyle Carpenter. Bob passed away just a few days after celebrating his 87th birthday with his family and one of his favorite meals, a perch fry.
Our beloved patriarch served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He owned the family business, “Carpenter Trucking” until it was sold. He was a skilled mason, electrician and carpenter. He remodeled several buildings in Plattsburgh to improve the community. Bob was very proud of his North Country roots and spent many years hunting, camping, fishing and skiing with family and friends. He loved dancing to music from the 50’s, playing cards and a board game he invented. His favorite hobby was creating furniture and other pieces in his wood shop.
Bob married Barbara McVeigh on December 26, 1955 and they raised 4 children; Peggy McCartney, Robby (Cindy) Carpenter, Patty (Pat) Goodell, and Pammy Maloney. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Randi Christodoulou, Kelli Gottschall, Jimmy McCartney, RJ and Mat Maloney, Kylie King and Christopher and Brian Goodell, 7 great-grandchildren with the 8th due any day, his sister Dorothy Somich and his brother Charles Carpenter.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife and son-in-law Louis Maloney.
