Robert A. Gillette, 78, of Military Turnpike, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his daughter’s home. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 8, 1943, the son of the late Harry and Hazel (Prespare) Gillette.
Robert served in the Army during the Vietnam War and later was a corrections officer at Franklin Correctional Facility in Malone until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 1623 in Lyon Mountain. He loved karaoke, going to the casino, the outdoors and fishing. He was a jokester and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son Robert “Bobby” Gillette, his daughters Anita (Kevin) Gillette Dubuque, Beth (Ricky) King, Chrissy (Darrell) Danussi, his grandchildren; Robert, Katrina, Kevin, Stacey, Erin, Zachery, Josh (Molly), several great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Star.
He was predeceased by his second wife Beverly (Nephew) Gillette, brother Herman, sisters Loretta Canning, Elsie Collins, his first wife Patricia (Benware) Boland, a son Jerry Regan, and a granddaughter Jessica King.
Calling hours and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Lyon Mountain. Memorial donations may be offered to the Lyon Mountain American Legion.
