Robert E Harnett

Mr. Robert E. Harnett, 80, of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Kathy Hospice in West Bend, Wisconsin. He was born in Altona, NY on September 11, 1928, the son of John and Anna (Marshall) Harnett. Robert was a prison guard while attending college where he graduated with a degree in education from SUNY Plattsburgh. He taught in Peru Central Schools for many years and was head of the Social Studies department at Peru High School before taking the position of High School Principal at Chestertown High School in Chestertown, NY. He retired from education and enjoyed traveling and visiting his family, tracking politics and watching baseball and football. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Bernice Leahy Harnett, a brother Hobart Harnett, and brothers-in-law Bernard and Carl Leahy. Robert is survived by a son, John T.(Patty)Harnett, a daughter Patty Harnett (David) Flowers, seven grandchildren Robert (Camille) Harnett, Rebecca (Rob)Rohrbaugh, Laura (Travis) Buddrus, Matthew (Susan) Flowers, Cory Flowers, Casey Flowers, James Flowers, eight great grandchildren, two sisters Mary (Myron) DeFranco, Betty (John) Boulter, a sister-in-law Rosilan Leahy, a brother-in-law Raymond Leahy, a special friend Jason Lienke, special friend/daughter Renee Feldeisen, and good friend Betty Hall. Robert is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were all very special to him. Calling Hours will be held on Friday June 26, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
