Robert G. Lafontaine

Robert G. LaFontaine, 83, of Plattsburgh, died Monday, January 22, 2024 at UVM-CVPH Medical Center. He was born October 30, 1940, the son of Albert and Agnes (Bechard) LaFontaine. Bob attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating from Champlain Central School. Following graduation he entered into the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. He attained his Master's Degree in Education and Certificate in Administration. He taught at Endicott Johnson School in Binghamton for 2 years and retired from Northeastern Central School after a dedicated career, holding positions as a Teacher and Assistant Principal. Following retirement he stayed active with the Northeastern Zone for the New York State Retired Teacher's Association holding many positions. In his free time, he often could be found outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a history buff, with vast knowledge of the Civil War and WWII. Bob was community minded and volunteered for several groups and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge, Plattsburgh. As you all know, he loved to drive his Corvette. He is survived by his wife Anna Bethlen-LaFontaine, his sister Carol Frail and her husband Ed, his nieces Diane and Debbie and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Paul. A Funeral Service will be Friday, January 26, 2024 at 4:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Burial will be at a later date in St. Peter's Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations Agnes Bechard LaFontaine Scholarship Endowment. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
