Robert J Lahart

Robert J. "Bob" LaHart, 74, of Saranac, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 13, 1948, the son of the late Roy and Mary (Bressette) LaHart Sr.

Bob graduated from MAI in 1969 and Syracuse University in 1972. He began his career at Auburn Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer and later transferred to Clinton Correctional Facility to the Division of Parole. After 37 years, he retired as the Senior Parole Officer of the North East Division. Bob is fondly remembered for his vibrant, joking and generous personality. He loved camping, music, family gatherings and outdoor adventures.

Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathleen (LaVarnway) LaHart, his children and their spouses; Amy and Bill LeClair, Abby and Corey Boire, Anna LaHart and her fiance Adam Layhee, and James LaHart; his grandchildren; Eve Boire, Lily, William and Jenna LeClair; a brother-in-law Mark LaVarnway; sisters-in-law, Susan Relation, Nancy Falcon and her husband Guy and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Roy LaHart Jr., his in-laws Mae and Ray LaVarnway, his special aunt and uncle Flora Borrette and Wilford LaHart.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 12:00pm at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Interment will be in Independence Cemetery in Saranac on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 9:00 am.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of the Oakwood floor at Meadowbrook Healthcare for the amazing care Bob received over the last two years.

Memorial donations may be made to the Third Age Adult Day Center or the Center for Donation & Transplant New York - Vermont.
