Robert (Bob) J. Light, Sr., 96 of Morrisonville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Plattsburgh on February 12, 1928, the son of Roswell and Edna (Brunelle) Light. Bob grew up in West Chazy at Sunshine Cottage on the Miner Farm until he started high school. His family then moved into Plattsburgh and he attended St. John’s Academy. Upon graduating in 1946, Bob attended auto mechanic school in Pennsylvania. Once finished with training he started work at Lincoln Mercury in Plattsburgh. His soon to be brother-in-law set him up on a blind date with his future wife Mercedes (Merc) Sweet. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 68 years of marriage before Merc’s passing in December 2023. He eventually ended up working for NYSEG as an auto mechanic and shop supervisor where he worked until he retired in 1990. After retirement, he and Merc became snowbirds and “flew” to Florida for the winters where several of Merc’s siblings resided as well. They were fortunate to spend a lot of time together. This is where Bob fell in love with the game of golf. He played well into his early 90’s; a highlight of which was the pleasure of making a Hole in One at the Bluff Point Golf Club.
