Cliff Haven Robert D. Munn, 92, of Cliff Haven, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Saranac Lake, NY, on June 23, 1924, the son of the late Matthew and Agnes (Delisle) Munn. Robert served his country and retired as a Lt. Colonel with the United States Air Force. While serving as a B-17 crew member during WWII, he was shot down and captured as a POW for the remainder of the war. He married Patricia Mary Foley on June 29, 1946, at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. He and Patricia were charter members of the Serra Club. He had a love for singing and was a part of the St. John's Church choir for over 50 years in Plattsburgh. Robert enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, especially in the Robert Munn Invitational, an annual tournament established in his honor thirty years ago. He had a great love for the outdoors; enjoyed hiking the Adirondacks and the views of Lake Champlain. Robert found serenity in listening to nature; loved animals as they loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Patricia, his children and their spouses; Maureen Condon and her husband Don of Shelburne, VT, Matt Munn and his wife Julia of Morrisonville, NY, Lisa Wells of Plattsburgh, Robert Munn Jr and his wife Juliet of Chazy Lake, NY, Patrick Munn and his wife Diane of Saranac Lake, NY, Christopher Munn and his wife Tammy of Peru, NY, Thomas Munn and his wife Karen of Williston, VT, Rebecca Danis and her husband Mark of Yellow Springs, OH, Richard Munn and his wife Michele of Plattsburgh, Adam Munn and his wife Karin of Colorado Spings, CO, and Daniel Munn and his wife Amy, of Saratoga Springs, his 36 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Saint John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 11:00 am in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to St. John's Church or to the ALS Association.
