Robert "Bob" J Wood

Altona Robert J. "Bob" Wood, 44, of the Devils Den Road Altona, NY passed away on Friday October 16, 2009 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Albany, New York on May 30, 1965 the son of John and Ramona (Monty) Wood. Bob graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School Class of 1983. He then enlisted in the United States Navy in February 1984 and retired after 20 years of service. At the time of his death he was employed at Champlain Peterbilt. Bob was a history buff, a member of the Antique Tractor Club and he always enjoyed a spirited political discussion. He was a member of the Mooers Wesleyan Church where he served with the Youth Group. He was predeceased by his mother Ramona Wood. Bob is survived by a son Takumi Okumura and a daughter Airi Okumura Wood both of Japan, his father John L. Wood of Altona, a brother Paul Wood and his wife Nancy and a sister Marcia Wood all of Altona, NY, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road, Altona, New York. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mooers Wesleyan Youth Group in care of the Mooers Wesleyan Church, Hemmingford Road, Mooers, New York 12958 or Masses may be said in his memory.
