Rodney K ""Butch"" Prue

Plattsburgh Rodney K. "Butch" Prue, 69, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his family by his side. He was born in Oneida, NY, on July 14, 1944 the son of John and Theresa (Breyette) Prue. Rodney attended Beekmantown Central School and later joined the United States Marine Corp., receiving several medals and awards including a Vietnam Service medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. Rodney worked as a truck driver for many years. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion as well as a member of the Champlain Valley 219 Leatherneck Detachment Marine Corp. League. He married Dixie Schweedler on November 5, 1995. His favorite hobbies were working in the yard, fishing, camping but most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Rodney was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dixie, his step-children; Debbie Chapman and her husband Kevin of Ulster Park, NY, and Karen Burnell and her husband Todd of Plattsburgh, his daughters Chris Prue and Laurie Babbie, his sister Taunyia Miner her husband Roman, an aunt, Jerry Breyette, his grandchildren; John, Dakota, Montana and Samantha, his step-grandchildren; Nicole, Brittany, Jason, Shaun, and Joshua, his step-great-grandchildren; Cyndi, Bryonna, Paige, Kaii and Connor, one niece Michelle Snell and one nephew Michael Barber. Calling hours will be held on Thursday April 17, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 p.m. Donations in Rodney's memory can be made to American Cancer Society.
