It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Roger W. Conant on March 14th, 2025 in Plattsburgh, New York. He died, after having spent the day with his family and Meadowbrook family. Dad was born to parents Frank and Donna (Walker) Conant on November 3, 1930 in Turner, Maine. He had four sisters and two brothers. He grew up in Turner and graduated from the Levitt Institute there. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his service in the Air Force, Roger joined the J.C. Penney company. It was while working at JCPenney that he met the love of his life, our mother Donna. Roger left the Penney Co. in 1964 and joined the Grandway Company. He was elevated to District Supervisor of stores in Plattsburgh, Rome and Cortland, NY as well as South Burlington, VT. The company dissolved in 1980. At the age of 50, Dad had to reinvent himself and start a new career. He then bought Heritage Printing Center of Plattsburgh and operated his own business until his retirement in 2012 when his son Rod took over the business. He then took care of our mother, Donna Conant, who was in advancing stages of dementia. Dad was an avid reader but most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his six siblings. He is survived by his son, Roger A. (Rod) Conant and partner Darryl Loiacano; his daughter, Haila J. Conant and husband Donald C. Moore; Melissa and Nicolas Moore who came to call him “Grandpa”; also his brother Merton and many nieces and nephews in Maine. He is predeceased by his wife Donna, his siblings Thelma, Richard, Leilia, Verna and Cleo as well as departed friends from the Anthony's Friday Night Gang. Dad’s legacy is that he was a wonderful husband, a great father, a gentleman and an all around good man. We are extremely grateful to all the staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare, past and present, from all departments of the care they provided Dad. They treated him like family. Donations in Dad’s memory can be made to the Strand Center for the Arts, 23 Brinkerhoff Street, Plattsburgh, NY (strand.org). It was there that Donna was once an usher and they spent time on dates. A celebration of life will occur at a later date and details will be provided. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, New York.
