Sciota Mr. Roger J. Defayette, 72, of Route 22 Sciota, New York passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on December 14, 1938 the son of Joseph and Mary (King) Defayette. Roger served in the U. S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He worked at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, working in his garden, tending to his apple trees and spending time with family and friends. Roger was a member of the Mooers Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post #20 and St. Peter's Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Defayette, his first wife Carolyn M. Defayette, his brothers George, Remie, and Gilbert Defayette. Roger is survived by his wife Evelyn (Rabideau) Defayette of Sciota whom he married October 18, 1997, three daughters Marylou Shusda and her husband John of Lyon Mountain, Tammy Villanueva and her husband Ray of Winter Haven, FL, Susan Jennett and her husband Steven of Sciota, a brother Clifford Defayette and his wife Julie of Santa Anna, CA, five sisters, Regina Rollier of Plattsburgh, Catherine Kipp and her husband Ambrose of Plattsburgh, Anita Topnick of Plattsburgh, Rosanna Zuck and her husband Robert of Kentucky, Eunice LeClair and her husband Gordon of Plattsburgh, a stepson Steven Dragoon and his wife Sally of Mooers Forks, a step daughter Donna Laforest and her husband Tony of Sciota, his mother-in-law Sarah Rabideau of Plattsburgh, six grandchildren, John and Krysta Shusda, Max and Alex Villanueva, Adam and Jacob Jennett, his step grandchildren, Alison Reznek, Katie Caska, and Ashley Jennett, Travis Laforest, Jenny Breyette and Ashley Dragoon, a great granddaughter Madison Breyette, two step great grandchildren, Gabriel and Sophia Caska, as well as several nieces and nephews and his dog Lilly. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis de France Cemetery in Sciota.
