Peru- Mr. Roger A. Wright, 92, of Gilliland Lane in Willsboro and formerly of Peru, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Champlain Valley Senior Community with his family by his side. He was born in Peru, NY on August 6, 1921, the son of the late William and Margurite (Morse) Wright. Roger served in the Navy following high school and was later employed as a Corrections Officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY for over 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion #504 in Au Sable Forks, Elks Club in Keeseville and Knights of Columbus in Peru. Roger enjoyed his time as a referee and umpire in the area for many years. He was a fan of both, the Yankees and Giants. He is survived by his son, George Wright and his wife Elaine of Titusville, FL, daughters; Jane Wright and her husband Thomas Tommi of Philmont, NY, Mary Kay Ezero of Peru, Betsy Settevendemio and her husband Michael of Peru, grandchildren; Arron, Peter, Erica, Benjamin, Amy, Matthew, Joel, Andrew, great-granddaughter Alice and a sister Pauline Guildersleeve of Mattituck, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline, brothers; Howard, Lloyd, Kenneth, Richard, Robert and Theodore. At the Roger's request, there will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be Friday August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's church in Peru, NY; burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to The Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro for the Activities Fund or American Legion Post #504 in Au Sable Forks.
