Roland J. “Freddy” Fredette, 89, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Manchester, Connecticut. He was born in Coopersville on December 14, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Leontine (Meloche) Fredette.
Roland served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and received three Purple Hearts. Later, he along with his wife Barbara he owned and operated Deal-Maker, a successful television, appliance and furniture business, and National Liquidators in Plattsburgh for many years.
He is survived by four sons: Lonnie, Larry, Lloyd and Leslie Fredette and one daughter, Laurie Fredette-Ralph. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Barbara Jean Fredette-Guay on Jan. 4, 2017.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 9:00 am at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be offered to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org, or a charity of choice.
