Romeo C. Barnard, 86, of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his home with the loving family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born Thursday, November 18, 1937, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Macey) Barnard. He served his country in the United States Air Force. While he was in the military, he purchased his 1956 Gibson Guitar and became a self-taught musician. Following his honorable discharge, he later worked at Imperial Papermill, retiring after many years. He had a strong love for his family including his grandfather who led him to a life surrounded by horses. He had a passion and love for antique tractors and restored them. He was a humble, kind, generous, hardworking family-man. He had a love for nature and animals where he was known for his gentile personality. Romeo was admired and loved by all family and friends for his unique personality. He is survived by his companion Anne Trayah, his daughters Darlene Barnard-Trayah and her husband Billy, Michelle Barnard, granddaughters, Gina and Sonia, his 2 great-grandsons, Colton and Jaxon. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Joyce, his brothers Timmy and Dennis, and his sister Donalda. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. Augustine's Church at 10:00am. Burial will in St. Peter's Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Elmore SPCA, or VFW #309. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
