Rose Marie (LaBarre) Oliver, 91, died March 11, 2024 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh, NY with her loving family at her side. She was born in Ellenburg, NY on September 6, 1932. Rose was the daughter of Henry and Lena (Rabideau) LaBarre and was married to Fernand L. Oliver on August 30, 1952. He predeceased her on December 15, 1996. Rose was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Parish, where she actively participated in various ministries and charitable initiatives. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in serving others. One of Rose's most treasured contributions was her trip to Nicaragua with the Mission of Hope, where she worked alongside her granddaughter Emily to assist underserved communities. She also traveled to West Virginia with her niece Melissa to volunteer with the Passionists, where she worked to provide much-needed resources after devastating floods. Her contribution to the Greater Plattsburgh Interfaith Hospitality Network was innumerable. She spent countless hours cooking, cleaning, and providing a safe space for unhoused families. Rose was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court Little Rose of Ellenburg and the Rosary Alter Society St Peter’s. Rose greatly treasured her family. She made all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews feel uniquely special. Rose’s house was a place of love and memories where everyone was welcome. She loved to share stories of growing up on the family farm in Ellenburg. Rose was a kind, humble hard-working woman who dedicated her life to her family. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children Sylvia Koziol, Donna (John) Drollette, Annette (Jonathan) Young, Tina (Harold) Bauman, and Lucien Oliver, her brother Charles (Betty) LaBarre; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Besides Rose’s parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Alex Koziol, four brothers; Bernard LaBarre, Bruce (Hazel) LaBarre, Lester (Deneige) LaBarre, Louis (Ruth) LaBarre; two sisters; Teresa (Raymond) Carter, and Lena (Lawrence) Whalen. Rose’s family would like to thank Dr. Richard Webber for the loving care he provided. They would also like to thank Fran and the Meadowbrook Staff for their compassionate care. Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2024 from 11:30-1:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30pm at St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh. Burial will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 9:00am in the parish cemetery. Donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the North Country Mission of Hope, 3452 State Route 22 Peru, NY 12972.
