Rose Marie "Rosey" Phaneuf, 81, of Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh passed away March 12, 2023 at CVPH with her family by her side.
She was born in Chazy Lake, NY on December 12, 1941, the daughter of Raymond and Catherine (Dubrey) Varin. Rose Co-owned the Eastern Car Wash, worked for Phaneuf Bros Inc. Construction Company and co-owned Sheila Ave. Development Company.
She was a member of St. Joseph's (Treadwell Mills) and St. Alexander's (Morrisonville) Church. Rosey joined the Red Hatter's Association and helped with the St. Joseph's Community Outreach Soup Kitchen since the start-up.
Rose was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Bernard R. Phaneuf Sr, her parents Raymond and Catherine Varin and her sisters Barbara Carey and Genevieve Miner.
Rose is survived by her children, Bernard R. Phaneuf Jr and his wife Terry (Powers) of Plattsburgh; Nicole Cragle and her husband Eric of Morrisonville; her sister Catherine Roberts and her husband Donald; Sister-in-law Sandra Bibeau and her husband Florent; four granddaughters, Jacqueline (Daniel) Collicutt, Victoria (Corey) Duval, Katelyn and Allyson Cragle; a step-granddaughter, Erin (Scott-Michael) Kellar; step-great granddaughter Chloe Kellar; several nephews and nieces and many friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 4-6pm at The Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Alexander's on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11am followed by a reception at St. Joseph's Outreach Center. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Outreach Center, PO Box 159, Morrisonville, NY 12962.
