Ross A Mooney Sr

Beekmantown Mr. Ross A. Mooney, Sr., 78, of Jersey Swamp Road in Beekmantown, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Beekmantown on November 22, 1931, the son of Harry and Stella (Hayes) Mooney. Ross served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was employed at Georgia Pacific, Anchor Motor Freight, and for many years as a mechanic for Riley Ford in Chazy until his retirement. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 125 in Plattsburgh. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris M. Trombley, his children, Ross and Terry of Syracuse, Ricky and Mary of Plattsburgh, Randy of West Chazy, Robin and his companion Donna of Sciota, Ronnie and Diana of Mooers, his step children, Margaret and Jimmy Lester of Constable, William and Susan Durand of Connecticut, Larry and Chris Morrison of Plattsburgh, Mary and Michael Roy of North Carolina, his sister, Dorothy Gorman and companion Russell of Morrisonville, a brother and sister in law, Walter and Jane Mooney of West Chazy, several grandchildren including April and Ginger Morrison who resided with him, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers and four sisters. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 11:00 am to 12:45pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 25, 2010 from St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
