Russell J Brothers Sr

Russell J. Brothers, Sr., 69, of Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2016. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on November 29, 1946 the son of Maynard and Dorothy (Woodward) Brothers. Russell graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1964, soon after Russell moved to Watertown, NY where he was a car salesman and the manager of Burger King. While in Watertown he met the love of his life Sandra Barnett, they were married on August 23, 1965. Russell was also a volunteer fireman with the Antwerp Volunteer Fire Dept. in Antwerp, NY. In 1979 Russell and Sandra moved back to Chazy and both began working at Ginsberg Furniture on Margaret Street in Plattsburgh and later Affordable Furniture. Most recently Russell worked as a Night Auditor at Econo-Lodge in Plattsburgh for over 25 years. He enjoyed Karaoke, dancing and going to Olive Ridley's to sing. Russell won many trophies at Karaoke competitions and idolized Elvis. The most important thing in Russell's life were his family and friends and spending time with them. He was predeceased by his wife Sandra in 1994, his parents, his brothers Orville, Marshall, Donald, a sister Dorothy Reilly, his nephews Michael Brothers and Kenneth Delisle, a niece Sheryl Mattot, a grandson Derek Genereux, a great grandson Ethan Wrye, his brothers-in-law Hubert Stratton, John Delisle, Douglas Miller, a sister-in-law Shirley Brothers, his in-laws; Lymon and Ella May Barnett, his brothers-in-law Robert Barnett, Sr., Edward Barnett, James Barnett, Ronald Marino and a sister-in-law Mary Secore, two nieces; Ella Mae Seyboth and Becky Barnett and a nephew Lymon Barnett. Russell is survived by children; Brenda Akin and her husband Gary of South Carolina, Russell Brothers, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Morrisonville, NY, Sylvia Hanshaw of Plattsburgh, NY, Mae Ellen Brothers of Morrisonville, NY, his grandchildren; Christina and Daniel, Elizabeth, Anthony, Amanda, Nichole, Kyle and Katrina, Danielle, Chantel and Ramsey, Michael and Christy, Katie (his caregiver) and Frederick, Crystal, Brianna, Zachary and Valerie, Steffen, Brayden and Aliyah (Baby Girl), his great grandchildren; Cassondra, Carinthian, Ryan, Savannah, Ayden, Evan, Keaton, Kaleb, Riley, Seondra, Jada, Hunter, Steven, Gabby, Damien, Jazarah (Princess), Jazmin, Roger, Shelby, Sandra, Kahlyn (Baby Elvis) and Axel, his siblings; Lawrence Brothers of West Chazy, Lillian Delisle of Plattsburgh, Lucille Stratton of Plattsburgh, Pauline Miller of Plattsburgh, Calvin Woodward of Plattsburgh, Pat Lashway and her husband Maynard of Altona, a sister-in-law Shirley Brothers of Plattsburgh, a brother-in-law Ray Reilly of West Chazy, his sisters-in-law; Bonnie Barnett, Eva Marino, Lois LaForty and Eleanor Barnett, several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 14, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
