Ruth M Cody

Ruth M. Cody, 84, of LaPlante Road, West Chazy passed away on, Tuesday January 1, 2019 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in West Chazy, NY on December 7, 1934 the daughter of Francis and Ethel (Johnson) LaDuke.
Ruth married Nelson “Frank” Cody on July 4, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. She worked at Schonbeks in Plattsburgh until retiring in 1984. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. She had a great love of music especially country music. Ruth and Nelson both played together for close to 60 year in numerous bands including Frank Cody and the Sundown Drifter and the RSVP Kitchen Band for many years at area events.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband Nelson, a son-in-law Merrill Pelkey, a granddaughter Traci Royea and her siblings; Betty Garrison, Gordie, Michael and Gil LaDuke.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Mickie Seymour (Lester), Bonnie Pelkey (Erwin), Ruth LaForest (Joe), Frank Cody (Shelly) and Karen Rabideau (Allen),ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her siblings; Capian Kelley, Fanny (Darrill) Spore, Barbara (Steve) Sanchez, Ken (Jean) LaDuke, Joe (Mary) LaDuke and several nieces and nephews.
At Ruth’s request services will be at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh.
