Mrs. Ruth F. Swinyer, 83, of Draper Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Saranac, New York on May 25, 1925, the daughter of Patrick and Grace (Burke) Carey. Ruth Graduated from the Champlain Valley School of Nursing and later retired from the Plattsburgh State University Health Services in 1988. She was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Grace (Burke) Carey and her husband Richard J. Swinyer who passed away on July 29, 1990, a sister Elizabeth Canning and a brother William Carey. She is survived by a son Richard Swinyer and his wife Carol of Anderson, SC, three daughters and their spouses; Linda and Michael Sanchez of Lake Charles, LA, Beth and John Quinn of Rutland, VT and Patti Swinyer-Esposito and her husband Ralph also of Rutland, VT, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 31, 2008 at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh. Following Entombment a reception will be held at the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge on Cumberland Avenue in Plattsburgh. Online condolences and memorial candles may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com
