Sally F. Carey, 84, was called to eternal life on January 8, 2013, at Albany Memorial Hospital, with her children at her side. She was born February 16, 1928 in Massena, NY, the oldest child of Warren G. and Blanche (Sullivan) Frenette. Her husband, John D. Carey, died in 1980. Mrs. Carey attended St. John's Academy (valedictorian), Loretta Business College, and Albany Business College. She served as a volunteer at Regina Maria Retreat House, Champlain Valley Hospital, and Friends of the Library. She was a long-time member of the St. John's Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. Sally served her family and community in many ways, being an active parishioner in St. John's Church for 50 years, acting as secretary to the Plattsburgh City Planning and Zoning Board for almost 20 years, working as a librarian for Plattsburgh State, and being a landlady to 20 years of Plattsburgh State students. She was an avid and skillful bridge player, collecting many Grand Master Points. She is survived by five children, John D. Jr. (Suzanne), Colleen Sullivan (Gregory), Mary Pat Beaulac (Mark), Joseph J., and Sally Ann Miranda (Steve). Her son Neil J. Carey of Chazy, NY died in March 2009. She is further survived by one sister, Betty McIlreath, of Convent Station, NJ, sister-in-law Patti Frenette of Arizona, and Mary (Carey) and Budd Munhall of Lake George, NY and Florida. Mrs. Carey is also survived by 16 grandchildren - Kevin, Bryce, and Brendan Carey; Meagan, Annie, Carey and Patrick Sullivan; Ryan and Michael Carey; Claire and Sam Beaulac; Douglas and Virginia Carey; and Max, Molly, and Sean Miranda. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral calling hours will be held at Brown's Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY, on Friday, January 11, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Church on Saturday, January 12, at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid at a later date.
