It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sarah P. Vagi of Beartown Rd. West Chazy, NY. Sarah left this Earth shortly before 6pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Born March 21, 1978, Sarah was the first born daughter of Clara Sue (Simmons) and Philip Fuller. Their little Sweetpatooty started her life of adventure on the back roads of Hailsboro, NY with constant companionship of countless cousins, aunts and uncles. Four years later she was joined by her sister, Emily and her family moved to Gouverneur, NY. Sarah was a student in the Gouverneur School District from the beginning at West Side Elementary until freshman year when she transferred to Clifton-Fine Central after her family moved to Fine, NY. Her younger years were spent with her sister, cousins and neighbors. As a child she loved playing Barbies and riding her bike. As she got older, she participated in cheerleading, student body and was elected to prom court. Sarah was an average student, school wasn't easy for her - yet she studied hard and went on to attend SUNY Plattsburgh after her high school graduation in 1996. At Plattsburgh state she obtained her Education degree in 2000 and went on to earn her masters degree in 2003. While in attendance at the state college, she met many friends and kindred spirits, some of who were right by her side until the end. Shortly after college Sarah met and fell in love with Thomas Vagi of Plattsburgh, NY. They both knew they had found their soul mate and were engaged within the year and married shortly after. Sarah and Thomas celebrated their 15th anniversary on September 28th of last year. In June of 2006, Sarah and Tom welcomed their first born, Julianna Clara and their lives were changed forever. Once Julianna was born, they bought a house and moved to Beartown Rd. where they were blessed with baby Elizabeth Aniko five years later in July of 2011. Sarah resided happily with her beautiful family, their dog, Rosie and her little bird, Blue, in her loving home on Beartown Rd until her death. Sarah was a beloved member of the Beekmantown Central School staff whose impact on students in the district was immeasurable over her 15+ years of service. She enjoyed teaching social studies and loved interacting and building relationships with her students. Sarah was an integral member of Team Summit, Beekmantown Middle School's Project Based Learning team. Sarah was very passionate about teaching; it was a big part of her identity and it showed. Anyone who was ever a student in her class could attest to her enthusiastic approach to learning and her genuine care for them as an individual. Sarah's contribution to BCS extended beyond the classroom, serving in many capacities throughout her tenure. She had been actively involved in the Beekmantown Teacher's Association, serving as the secretary; she was Chairperson of VOTE COPE, an 8th grade class advisor, and a member of the Beekmantown Middle School PTO. Through her eldest daughter, Julianna, Sarah was also involved with the Adirondack Dance Company and volunteered her time and talents in their local productions in fundraisers; she will be dearly missed by her Dance Mom' friends. Sarah led a very active life up right up until the end of December. Her children will have memories of their mother to last a lifetime. Having summers off, the girls and their mother enjoyed countless hours at Ausable Point beach, always leaving time to get ice cream on the way home. Every summer for the last 6 years, the family would camp at Robert Moses State Park in Massena - it was everyone's favorite week of the year. Sarah was a music lover and attended many concerts with her husband and friends. She met monthly to play Bunco with a special group of ladies, and perhaps now someone else will be able to win. In 2016, the family was able to fulfill the promise to the children and spend a week at Disney World before Sarah's disease made her too weak. Last summer she was able to get the beautiful porch on her house that she's imagined for so long, and her family will be able to enjoy it in her memory. Purple butterflies and colorful birds are sure to adorn the Vagi house in her honor for years to come. Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Thomas and her daughters, Julianna, 11, and Elizabeth, 6, all of Beekmantown. Her parents, Clara and Philip Fuller of Plattsburgh. Her sister Emily Fuller and companion, John Carron of West Chazy. Her Mother and Father-in-law, Aniko and Nick Vagi of Plattsburgh. Sister and brother-in-law, Christina and Robert Baker of Deerfield, NH, and nephews and niece, Kellen, Troy and Brooke. There are many special cousins, aunts, uncles and exceptionally close friends too numerous to list. They know who they are and what they meant to her. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. To the nurses on R5 and the ICU, we cannot adequately express our gratitude for the impeccable care our Sarie received. You were not only her nurses but also her friends. We know she was as special to you as you were to us. Please know how much your compassion meant to us all. Cancer does not have a face until it is the face of someone you love. When Sarah passed, cancer did not win. Sarah beat cancer by the way she lived her life. She was fierce, she was courageous and full of grace in the face of unimaginable obstacles. Sarah was good. She was kind. She was thoughtful, selfless and sensitive. Sarah was loved by everyone who got the privilege to know her. In her honor, we will raise up her children in love. They will know their beautiful mother would have moved the heavens in Earth to be with them if she could. She was immensely proud of her girls. When they are older, and they can fathom the extent of this terrible disease they will grow to realize their mother was a warrior. We will say our goodbye to our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and teacher on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Calling hours will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
