Sheila Mulcahy Wylie, 85, of Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Albany, New York, on September 7, 1934, daughter of the late Robert and Louise (Bain) Mulcahy.
Mrs. Wylie attended the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and graduated from the College of St. Rose. She received a Master's in Science degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and taught in the Plattsburgh City School System until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Wylie served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, and was a Charter Member of the Council on the Arts. She was president for two terms of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Home of Northern New York. She was also a member of the CVPH Corporation, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Champlain Valley Council of Retirees and the League of Women Voters.
Known as She-She to her grandchildren and close friends, she was an avid book club member, loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Wylie is survived by her son Greg Wylie of Milton, Vermont; her daughter Mary Elizabeth Wylie, of Kingston, Ontario and her son and daughter in law, Andrew and Natalie (Brassard) Wylie.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alexander R. Wylie, Molly M. Cordell, Katherine E. Cordell, Henry M. Wylie, Jack A. Wylie, Peter J. Wylie and Isabelle K. Wylie.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Divine Mercy Cemetery on Cumberland Head.
Sheila's family would like to thank the staff on the 7th Floor of UVM-CVPH Medical Center for the care they provided her in her last days of life.
