Shirley Ethel Depo was a beloved great-grammy, nanny, mother, and sister. She passed away peacefully at the age of 77, with family at her side. Born in Plattsburgh on January 18, 1948, Shirley was raised in Peru, NY. Shirley graduatedfrom Peru Central School in 1966 and entered the workforce at Grandway/Zayre. She worked there until they closed in the early nineties and began working at V.Fraas, whereshe retired in 2013. Shirley was thankful for the lifelong friendships she made while working. Shirley's daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her most prized possessions. She loved to play rummy, color, and put together puzzles with her daughters. She was also always available to watch a softball game or play a round of "Slap Jack" with her granddaughter; play checkers, a round of war, shoot basketballs, or watch "South Park" with her grandsons; she would have movie nights with all her grandchildren; and read to her great-grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her mother and father, Ethel and Elbridge Thomas; her brothers, Walter Kenneth Thomas, Louis Thomas, and Harold Thomas; her sister, Bonnie Atkinson; her daughter-in-law, Nicole Pankhurst; two nieces, Darlene Coryer and Felicia McGregor; and her sister-in-law, Marlene Thomas. She is survived by her three daughters:Tammy Montefusco and her husband, James, Julie Stanley, and her husband, Aaron, and Jennifer Depo. She leaves behind her grandchildren: James Montefusco II, Tanner Stanley, Jacob Montefusco, Lauren Roanley and her husband Josh; and two great-grandchildren:Emelia Roanley and Lucas Montefusco. She is also survived by her two brothers, JamesThomas and his wife, Carmen, and Gerald Thomas and his wife, Deborah, as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many other family members and dear friends who will sadly miss her. Wake Hours will be 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on the 31st of January 2025 with a Funeral Mass at 4:00 pm at Browns Funeral Home 29 Broad St. Plattsburgh, NY 12901 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.
