Shirley Macconnell

Mrs. Shirley (Carpenter) MacConnell, 95, who lived in Plattsburgh, NY, died June 16th, 2020 at Pine Harbour. Shirley was born September 8th, 1924 in Little Falls, NY to Herbert Carpenter and Eleanora (MacMaster) Carpenter.
Shirley was married for 62 years and predeceased by her late husband Roy MacConnell (September 12th, 2010) at 93 years old. Shirley and Roy had two children, surviving son Gregory MacConnell born April 3rd, 1950 and predeceased by her youngest son Bradley MacConnell born March 26th, 1955.
Shirley moved from Batavia, NY to Plattsburgh, NY in 2010 to live closer to immediate family, where she became an active member of the community at Pine Harbour. She enjoyed playing bingo, getting her nails done and spending time with the wonderful staff and her beloved friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed frequent visits from family and her loved ones. Shirley was known for her sense of humor, she loved to make people laugh and have a good time.

Shirley and Roy raised their family in Batavia, NY where Shirley had a career as a dental hygienist and Roy was a utility engineer at Kodak for 34 years. She is survived by her son Gregory MacConnell and his partner Ann Giard-Chase of Plattsburgh, NY. Her late son’s wife Sandy Redick MacConnell of Bedford, NH and grandson’s Blaise and Dustin MacConnell. Her granddaughter Sarah MacConnell of Clifton Park, NY and her fiancé Frank Brogna; great grandchildren Eleanor and Alexander Brogna. Her grandson Patrick MacConnell of Charleston, SC and his wife Kathleen MacConnell; great grandchildren Aislynn and Avery MacConnell.

Services will be held at a later date, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of the North Country 358 Tom Miller Rd Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
