Stephen B Mclean

West Chazy Stephen B. McLean, 57, of Branon Drive, West Chazy, NY, passed away on Thursday August 14, 2014 after a tragic ATV accident. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 4, 1957 the son of Vernon and Edna (Chauvin) McLean. Steve graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1975, soon after he began work for the Clinton County Highway Dept. He owned and operated S. McLean and Sons Construction Company. Steve then went on to work for the New York State Division for Youth in Schuyler Falls, NY, retiring in 1999. He worked at Rafferty Sand and Gravel for over 20 years. Steve was a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Beekmantown Fire Dept. for many years and most recently was the President of the Out Back Riders ATV Club, where they worked with the Ironman Lake Placid as support vehicles and a member of the Champlain Valley Classic Cruisers. Steve was an avid NASCAR and GIANTS Fan. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Terry Grant McLean. Steve is survived by three children; David McLean of Amber, NY, Jeromy McLean of West Chazy, Erin McDowell and her husband Ryan of Louisville, KY, their mother; Dawn Mackowski of Gaston, SC, a granddaughter; Madilyn McDowell, who will forever know Steve as "Pappy", his longtime companion Mary Paul of Morrisonville, his siblings; Isabelle McLean of Plattsburgh, June McLean of NH, his sisters-in-law Cheryl Mackowski of Cape Coral, FL and Lynne Mackowski of Plattsburgh, his Golden Retriever Harvey several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 20, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will follow at 8:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in Steve's memory may be made to the Foundation of CVPH.
