Steven M. Forgette

Steven M Forgette, 71, of Plattsburgh, died Tuesday October 8, 2024 at UVHN-CVPH with his loving family by his side. He was born Saturday, November 22, 1952, son of John Forgette and Shirley Lyman. Steven graduated from St. John’s high school in 1970 before joining the United States marine corps in 1971. When he returned home, he joined the Plattsburgh City police department where he was employed when he married the love of his life, Lois LaVarnway on November 15, 1975.Steven was a 40+ year member of the Knights of Columbus Council 255 where he servedmany roles including Grand Knight. He was a devout catholic and active member of St. Peter’s parish. Steven was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He looked forward every year to celebrating the spooky season at Halloween with his grandchildren and truly enjoyed attending their sporting and school events. Steven was predeceased by his parents, father and mother-in-law Louis (Helen) LaVarnway and a sister-in-law Mary (LaVarnway) Guay. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lois. His daughter Stephanie (Nathan) Couture. His son Joshua (Kerry) Forgette. His five grandchildren Kaitlyn Goodwin, Isaac Couture, Averie Couture, Hannah Forgette and Noah Forgette. His brother Lawrence (Debbie) Forgette. A brother-in-law Steven (Kathy) LaVarnway. A sister-in-law Clara LaVarnway. A brother-in-law Gerard (Nancy) LaVarnway. And several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 15th from 3pm-6pm at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, October 16th 10am at St. Peters Church, Plattsburgh, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
