Susan Laundrie Martin , 71, formerly of Plattsburgh NY, currently of Bardonia, NY passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, after a long battle with gallbladder cancer. Susan passed away at the White Plains Hospital with her daughter, Michelle, by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh on July 15, 1950, the daughter of George and Genevieve (Venne) Laundrie graduating from Plattsburgh High School in 1968.
Susan is survived by her brother Bill Laundrie (Linda), two daughters Kristin Riemer (Tim), Michelle McSherry (Tim), and 3 grandchildren- Brendon, David, and Connor. as well as her nieces, Laura, Cathy, Betsy, and nephew, George, cousins and close friends.
Susan was a proud single mother to her daughters Kristin and Michelle. She created a wonderful life for them and gave them all of the love in the world while instilling important values such as compassion, integrity, faith, and positivity. She was also the world’s best Grandma to Brendon, David, and Connor. She attended almost every one of their sporting events, had frequent sleepovers and movie nights, and according to them, she made the best noodles with butter on the planet. She spent summers on Lake Champlain with her family, boating to Valcour Island. Susan believed strongly in giving back to her community through volunteering and charitable donations. She enjoyed reading, hiking, skiing, and kayaking.
Susan was a lifelong learner earning multiple advanced degrees, including an MBA from Wharton Business School. Susan followed her love of computer science and technology into the financial industry where she worked her way up to the position of Chief Information Officer before pivoting and running her own successful consulting firm for many years. Susan had a deep history of successful software delivery including developing and implementing financial applications in more than 20 countries. Throughout her career, Susan prided herself on mentoring others personally and professionally.
Susan will be remembered for her strength, love, and perseverance and will continue to be an inspiration to those who knew her.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh, NY. A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 3rd at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Church, Plattsburgh. Burial will be on Tuesday, January 4th at 9:30 AM in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
