Syliva G. Thume, 87, of Plattsburgh, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fort Ann, New York on December 8, 1931 the daughter of Archie and Ruth (Blaisdell) Osborne.
She married John Thume on July 22, 1953. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and formerly of St. Mary’s of the Lake on Cumberland Head. She worked as a Clerk at the Feinberg Library at Plattsburgh State. Sylvia and her husband loved to travel and escaped the winters at their home in Nokomis, FL or trips to Aruba. She enjoyed being active; bowling and an avid golfer with her husband playing in leagues in Plattsburgh and Florida.
She is survived by her children; Mary Anne Gaul and her husband Greg, Stephen Thume and his wife Kathi, a son-in-law Michael Kivett, daughter-in-law Christine Thume, 10 grandchildren and their spouses and companions; Nathaniel Thume, Gabriel (Jana) Thume, Elijah (Brittany) Thume, Emily Gaul, Daniel (Stephanie) Gaul, Grace Thume, William Thume, Sadie Thume, Ryan (Jordy) Kivett and Kerry (Sam) Adams, great-grandchildren; Chloe, Gemma, Micah, Tessa, Grant, Saoirse and Noah, a brother-in-law, Robert Thume and his wife Elaine, and sister-in-law Mildred Osborne, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her step-mother Freida Osborne, her husband John Thume, her daughter Patricia Kivett, her son David Thume, and her brother, Walter Osborne.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Church. Entombment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery Columbarium at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s Church, Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or Hospice of the North Country. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com
