Plattsburgh Tanya D. LaFountain, 62, of South Catherine Street in Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer and other health issues. She was born in Plattsburgh on February 4, 1952 the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Robinson) Darrah. Tanya went to Plattsburgh High School and then to BOCES where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She married Gary LaFountain at Plattsburgh Air Force Base after he returned from Vietnam on June 14, 1969. Tanya worked at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Plattsburgh and CVPH Medical Center, retiring in 1993. Tanya enjoyed painting pictures, collected horse figurines, fishing, boating and camping. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers; Duane Darrah and Roland Bellgared, a sister Deloris Moses and a special nephew Ronald Duell. Tanya is survived by her husband of 45 years Gary LaFountain of Plattsburgh, two sons; Gary LaFountain, II and his companion Lori Clukey of Plattsburgh and Shawn LaFountain of Plattsburgh, six grandchildren; Gina-Marie LaFountain, Kaila LaFountain Brunet and her husband A.J., Jacob LaFountain, Abigail Rose LaFountain, Michael Malseptic, Brenyn LaFountain, her siblings; Ethel Joyce and her husband Jim Washingtonville, NY, Deborah Duell and her husband Ronald of Plattsburgh, Kenneth Darrah and his wife Mary of Schuyler Falls, Yolanda Bedard and her husband Gary of Plattsburgh, Roseva Arnold and her husband Garren of Peru, Calvin Darrah of Plattsburgh and Kimberly Moyer and her husband Donald of Milton, NY, several nieces and nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donation in Tanya memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
