Plattsburgh Mr. Theodore H. "Ted" Stein, 79, of Plattsburgh, New York passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fremont, Ohio, on August 15, 1929 the son of Joseph and Loretta (Druckenmiller) Stein. Ted was a graduate of Fremont High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving from 1952 until his retirement in 1972. Ted obtained his Associates Degree from Clinton Community College and his Bachelors Degree from Plattsburgh State University. He then was an administrative assistant at the Nutrition Center for the Elderly in Plattsburgh and for Meals on Wheels. Ted was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #255, Plattsburgh, a Charter member of American Military Retirees Association (AMRA) and St. Peter's Church where he was a lector. He served on the Board of Directors for the Senior Citizens Council and the Parish Council and the Finance Council at St. Peter's Church Ted was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Loretta Stein, three brothers; Robert, Joseph and William Stein and a sister Virginia Demmel. He is survived by his wife, whom he married May 1, 1954, M. Lillian (Aguilar) Stein of Plattsburgh, two sons; Michael Joseph Stein and his wife Lynne of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Vincent L. Stein and his wife Gayle of Irving, Texas, one daughter Kathryn M. Stein and her companion Marko Franciskovich of Branson, Missouri, one sister, Isabelle Herr of Fremont, Ohio, four grandchildren; Jacquelynne M., Robert T. and Michael A. Stein and Gabriella Franciskovich, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Following cremation entombment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Friends wishing may make donations in Ted's memory to Hospice of the North Country or St. Peter's Church.
