Theresa H. Rible passed away on July 2, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. Born May 17, 1931 in Lyon Mountain, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Hicks and Delia Pageau Hicks. She graduated with honors from Lyon Mountain High school in June of 1950. She was an active parishioner of St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, teaching catechism to young children. She attended Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in NYC, and graduated in August of 1953 with a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Theresa was employed as a registered nurse and supervisor at Mount Sinai Hospital from January 1954 to January of 1961. She married Thomas A. Rible on June 25, 1960 in NYC and together they returned to the North Country to live, work and raise their five children. They were co-owners of the Thomas A. Rible Funeral Home in Dannemora, NY and the Quirk Brothers Funeral Home in Ausable Forks, NY. She was predeceased by her husband in August of 1977. Theresa was past president and member of the Dannemora Union Free School District 1 from 1973 to 1987. She organized and conducted the children's choir at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Dannemora, NY from 1977 to 1984. She was also past president and member of the American Legion Auxiliary, past secretary and member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Mother Admirable in Dannemora, NY. Theresa was employed as nursing supervisor at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, NY from 1982 to 1991. She was also employed as nursing supervisor at Meadow Brook Healthcare Center from 1991 to 1998. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Paul Rible (Rebecca Rible), Lori Reed (Richard Reed), Doris Rible-Lacey (Thomas Lacey), and Judith Nichols (Lee Nichols); twelve grandchildren; Derrek, Brandon, Sophia, Calvin, Janna, Brooke, Tyler, Cody, Dustin, Logan, Alexis, and Leah. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law; Geraldine Hicks, Sandy Hicks and Madeleine Rudolph, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was also predeceased by her beloved son, Thomas Rible, and brothers Hugh Hicks, Thomas Hicks, Henry Hicks, and Charles Hicks. Mom (Gram) will be lovingly remembered as a compassionate and independent woman who persevered through adversity with acceptance, love and laughter. We were her world, and she, ours. She was happiest caring for people; body, heart and soul, and guiding others to do the same. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 2:00pm at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain. Memorial donations may be offered to the Advocacy and Resource Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12903.
