Thomas Joseph Delisle, 70, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 at UVM-CVPH in Plattsburgh surrounded by his family. He was born on Friday, May 13, 1954 to the late Doris Oshier and Kenneth Delisle. Thomas was a man of immense humor and wisdom, and had cherished moments with the people he cared about most; his family. He was an avid motorcyclist as well as a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. He enlisted in the Army in May of 1971, and completed basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. From there, he was stationed at Fort Humphreys in South Korea, and 13 months later was honorably discharged in May of 1973. Thomas was proud to be a veteran of the United States of America and joined the American Legion Post 1619 over 40 years ago. He served as 1st and 2nd Vice, and Commander. Tom was instrumental in the installment of the WWII tank on Legion Property and began the Adopt-a-Highway Program for Rand Hill Road for The Boys Scouts of America. Many years ago on Veteran's Day, Tom began honoring our veterans for their service by visiting local nursing homes and hospitals. He was responsible for reactivating and participating in the Color Guard for Post 1619 as well. Thomas drove tractor trailers and traveled all throughout the continental United States and Canada for the following companies: Globe Metal, Whitten, C.I.L. and New York Bandit. After finding out he was to become a father, he changed career paths and worked for Huntley Trucking Company locally to be home with his family. Then at age 50 he retired so he could be a stay at home father. Tom was also proud to officiate his son's wedding. Tom is survived by his loving wife Melissa, whom he was married to for 25 years; the joy of his life, his son Chase (Cassidy Vianese) Delisle; his grandson, Hyland Delisle; two sisters, Deborah (Mickey) Carpenter and Bonnie Sears; two brothers, Michael (Patricia) Delisle and Scott Delisle; sister-in-law, Monica (Michael) Quirk, along with several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh from 5-7PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday March 6, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. James Church ion Cadyville. Inurnment will be later in the year in the parish cemetery.
