Beekmantown Mr. Thomas Henry Henderson, 80, of the Monty Road, passed away, Friday, January 21, 2011 at home with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Warton, New Jersey on February 4, 1930 the son of Alan and Rose Jean (Ward) Henderson. Thomas was a veteran of Korea serving in the U. S. Navy and he was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He and his family moved to Saranac in 1972 from New Jersey. While living in New Jersey he owned and operated the High Side Inn. While living in Saranac he owned and operated the Low Side Inn. He and his wife Lois then made their home in Portland, Oregon until 2008 before returning to live in the North Country. He drove contract postal truck until he lost his eyesight. Although he was blind, Thomas was a skilled mechanic, using touch and keen hearing. Thomas was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed working small engines and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Robert Henderson, his step brothers William and Bruce Blanchard Thomas is survived by his wife of 57 years Lois (Polwin) Henderson of Beekmantown, three daughters; Sharon Lambert and her husband Michael of Niagara Falls, New York, Kathy Henderson and her companion Shelby of Beekmantown, Erica Jean Henderson of Portland, Oregon, two grandchildren, Thomas Lambert of Michigan and Kristan Young of Lockport, NY, two great grand daughters; Hailey and Charlotte "Charlie" Young, several nieces, nephews and his canine lap companion Heidi. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Skyline Funeral Home, 410 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97229. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Friends wishing may make donations to the Rector's Discretionary Fund to help the less fortunate c/o St. John's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 262 Essex, New York 12936.
