Timothy W. “Turnpike Timmy” Barnard, Sr., 65, of the Military Turnpike passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home under the care of Hospice of the North Country with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 29, 1953 the son of Joseph and Mabel (Macey) Barnard. Tim retired from Georgia Pacific. While employed at GP he served as Vice President and President of the Union Workers for many years. Tim served as an executive member of all the unions from Maine to Cleveland, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auctions, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan. Tim was predeceased by his parents and his sister Donalda Barnard.
He is survived by a son Timothy (Kelsey) Barnard, II, two brothers; Romeo Barnard and his companion Ann, Dennis (Diana) Barnard, his grandchildren Jackson and Clara, who were the light of Tim’s life and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York 12901.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville.
Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Tim’s family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at R-5, Hospice of the North Country and especially to nurses Becky and Heather.
