Vernon P. Malark, 79, of Cadyville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Ellenburg, on October 4, 1943, the son of William and Roxie (Sharrow) Malark.
Vern was a proud Marine and was honorable discharged in 1966. Following his military service, he became a Corrections Officer, retiring after 33 years. Vernon loved to stay active and be outdoors; going hunting, golfing, and bowling. He enjoyed following high school and collegiate wrestling. In his retirement, he was active in the American Legion #1619 and served as Sgt at Arms as well as in the Honor Guard. In his later years, he continued to travel with his wife worldwide. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, following all of their school activities.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly, their children; Valerie Bragg and her husband Roger of Morrisonville, NY, Duane Malark and his wife Roma, of New Windsor, NY, his grandchildren; Dylan, Madi, Nathan, Alyssa and Charles, his sister Mary LaBarge of Plattsburgh, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Russell, Gerald, Tony and Dicky, his sisters; Bertha, Joanne, Veronica, Theresa, Jeanne, Yvonne and Bernadette
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 3:00-6:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Entombment will follow in the Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum with Military Honors.
