Plattsburgh Vernon L. Whittington, Sr. 75, of the Turner Road Morrisonville, NY passed away on Friday November 13, 2009 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his family by his side. He was born in Buffalo, WV on September 12, 1934 the son of Elbin and Ramie (Parsons) Whittington. Vernon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After the war he began working at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh. He then went on to work at Plattsburgh Whole Sales Homes. Vernon was known for being a good natured, lovable person and a friend to all. He was predeceased by his parents. Vernon is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara (Thew) Whittington, his children; Vernon "Bob" Whittington, Jr. and his husband Jon Gerry of CT, Ronald Whittington and his wife Norma of Plattsburgh, Lorene Whittington of Plattsburgh, Kimberly Burlow and her husband Michael of Hamburg, NY and Terry Whittington and his wife Kim of Morrisonville, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a brother Raymond Whittington of OH and a sister Betty Bowers of WV, several nieces, nephews, friends and his special dog Mindy. Calling Hours will be held on Monday November 16, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
